Woori System, led by CEO Park Dong-hwan, introduced its Distributed Temperature Monitoring System, DMS v2.5, to manage important industrial facilities and help anticipate and prevent disasters and fires.
The system analyzes incoming data in real time and visualizes the location of abnormal equipment using fiber optic cables and graphical mapping. Operators can identify problems on the monitoring display and take immediate action to help prevent major incidents. Analysis tools also help determine their causes.
Analysis uses real-time data and hourly, daily and monthly statistics. Data spanning hours to years can be used to examine equipment deterioration and estimate service life. The system supports connections to different manufacturers' equipment and the relevant equipment protocols used in Korea. Third-party devices can be connected through configuration without modifying the program.
A proprietary algorithm maps fiber optic sensing cables to equipment and displays the mapping on a graphical map. A graphics editing program is also provided.
The system uses proprietary compression to manage large data volumes, using approximately one-quarter of the storage required by competing products according to the article. More than ten years of data can be analyzed. Automatic backup, recovery and data housekeeping support data protection and efficient management.
Operating system: Windows 7. Product: a graphics-based system for real-time monitoring and analysis of facility temperature distributions. Contact: +82-31-340-3615.
CEO Park Dong-hwan explained: "Most distributed temperature monitoring devices that read temperatures through optical fibers are imported. Their simple graph displays make it difficult to identify the actual location of an abnormal condition."
Woori System's software displays sensor data on a 3D graphical map resembling the site, making it easier to locate equipment and respond quickly. It presents equipment temperatures and temperature distributions in real time, combining extensive measurements with graphics that resemble the actual facilities.
The company supplies the software as a complete system with DTS equipment and a computer. At the time of the article, demonstration installations were being piloted for delivery to large industrial customers. Equipment development was handled overseas, while the company also planned to supply its software to equipment vendors.
The system was being developed beyond temperature monitoring to integrate leak detection, power, motor and ventilation fan monitoring. The aim was a comprehensive monitoring system with a simple interface for conveniently handling multiple sensor types.
