From February to March 2021, we expanded Company OO's power cable tray temperature monitoring system. The work extended the existing substation monitoring to system panel room trays and the approach cable sections serving each substation monitoring channel.
The expansion also added OPC communication with the DCS for temperature data and alarm activation/clearance events, SMS notifications for alarm activation and clearance with operator groups assigned by alarm level, and web client access.
In December 2020, a fire occurred along an approach section of the system we had installed four years earlier. The system detected the fire at an early stage, generated an alarm and notified operators by SMS, enabling early suppression. Based on this building fire detection experience, Company OO decided to expand monitoring beyond the power facilities.
The monitoring client was extended from the system panel and the electrical team's office display to the equipment monitoring control room. Monitoring was reinforced through three client locations, the site-wide DCS and operator groups receiving SMS notifications.
Topics include DTS and fiber optic temperature monitoring, early building fire detection, fire spread prevention, continuous automatic distributed temperature monitoring, web monitoring, SMS fire notifications, OPC communication and Honeywell DCS integration.
