In August 2022, we developed an interface to transfer temperature data from an operating DTS monitoring system to Company S's DCS.
To address security concerns such as malware entering through a conventional computer network, the interface converts data to the S7 protocol required by the DCS. It uses a computer network → PLC → protocol conversion → PLC → computer network arrangement to separate the networks.
This architecture was designed for overseas customers and sites with strict security requirements. It also distributes the integration workload away from the DTS server, allowing customer-specific higher-level system connections while limiting the effect on server performance.
Topics: DTS–DCS integration, protocol conversion, network security and network separation.
